Now that I'm completely adrift after college and don't know what to do with myself, actually starting my tumblr seems like the best life choice. Also too, I have so very many feeeeelings. Also two, all the kids are doing it?

A week or so later:
And now I care more about tumblr than I ever thought I could.

Maybe it will help me get back to the more activisty place I was at after I took my first WMST class.

This is how I feel when I pull multiple all nighters in a row

Some Paranormal Pronouns!

birolesmantic:

So, I’m nonbinary and I’m clairvoyant, so my pronouns are

clai/clair/clairs/clairself

I’m not sure if there’s one already, but here are some other paranormal/parapsychology related pronouns I came up with, if you want to use them.

psy/psych/psychs/psychself

I’m usually hesitant to comment on these things because drama/not wanting to bash people unnecessarily, but these ACTUALLY MAKE ME ANGRY.

I can allllllmost understand someone not getting what the point of pronouns is and deciding that being a dragon/bunny/wev (I’m not touching therian/otherkin-ness itsefl w/ a ten foot pole) means they need a pronoun  to represent that because it’s a whole ‘nother species.  That’s not the point, and these noun-based pronouns seriously undermine the efforts of nonbinary folks to get basic zie/xie/ey/etc. pronouns treated seriously.  But can see how someone could get there.

But this?!  This is like saying “I’m nonbinary and I speak Spanish, so my pronouns are Spa/Span/Spans/Spanself.”

No.  Just no.

Destroy the white racist paradigm? Haha, there's the 'tolerant' left for you! It's cute when you idiots say you're for tolerance then make a double standard in regards to whites. Will you also be attacking the black racist paradigm in place in Zimbabwe? Y'know, the country where a black African president tells white Africans to get off their lands? No you won't. Why? Because "white oppression is a laughable myth!" Nevermind Arabs owning white slaves or non whites pillaging Eastern Europe.

Someone got rull sads about my profile picture.

You felt like you had to write me a weird-ass and rude anon ask ranting about race-based oppression of white folks where you make all sorts of assumptions and include a non-quote-surrounded-by-quotation-marks because of my profile picture?  My profile picture of a blond little girl saying “Mommy, when I grow up I want to help smash the white racist, homophobic, patriarchal, bullshit paradigm too!”  Poor baby.  Cry some more white tears. You had to try REALLY hard to find something to pretend was oppressive towards white folks, didn’t you?

Way to miss the point, make assumptions, ignore the context and meaning of the phrase “white racist,” miss the fact that I live in the US, and ignore the fact that yeah, the history and current incarnations of white supremacy and racism against people who aren’t white have impacts many magnitudes higher than the things you’re talking about.

ALSO IT’S A FUCKING HALF-SELF-PARODYING, HALF-SERIOUS MAGNET

But, hey, thanks for being my first real ask!

found on facebookwhile we should do our best to make sure everyone is provided for at least at the most basic levels and has equal rights and the means to better themselves. that part in pink seem kind of funny, if anything it’s an augment against the whole notion of “male privilege” both that most homeless are men and that it is more of an outrage for women, even in smaller numbers to be in a bad situation than for anyone else to be in a bad situation just by virtue of them being women. it devalues the life and well being of anyone who is not a woman or biologically female.ideally no one should have to be homeless, especially given that there are more peopleless homes than homeless people and poverty is a tragedy no matter who is stricken by it.

"1 in 7 is a woman" what the fuck do they think the other 6 are, horses? MEN. MEN ARE HOMELESS BY A HUGE MAJORITY. STOP MAKING IT A WOMEN’S ISSUE. Ideally, it shouldn’t be a gender issue because it’s a terrible thing either way, but if you’re going to gender homelessness, do it right. Jesus.

Actually, I have no idea what this picture is trying to communicate, but 56% of people in poverty are female.  Maybe this was a complete misunderstanding of  the fact that for adults 18-65, 15.4% of women and 11.9% of men are in poverty.  Which would mean that about 1 in 7 women are in poverty and about 1 in 10 men are in poverty. Which is the same number as on the picture, but clearly the people who made it don’t know how to statistics.
Homelessness, on the other hand, is more likely to affect men.  While most people who are homeless and have children are women, the majority of people who are homeless are single, and a sizable majority of homeless single people are men.
What a terribly misleading picture and statistic combination that takes away from the gendered nature of both poverty and homelessness.

LGBTQ* Family Moments You May Have Missed

Neil Patrick Harris, fiance David Burtka, and family Halloween photographs 2011-2013

  • Alice in Wonderland - Halloween 2013
  • Wizard of Oz - Halloween 2012
  • Peter Pan - Halloween 2011

Some things that nobody tells you about ADD drugs (at least, nobody tells the casual users who scam scrips and buy off the street)

lightspeedsound:

1. ADD drugs are sometimes massive stimulants, very similar to speed. Same family as crystal meth. They will give you similar side effects.

  • These sometimes include tachycardia (high pulse rate), high blood pressure, nausea, tingly skin, and an inability to eat and a whole lot of other not fun stuff.
  • You can go through withdrawal. it is not fun. You will turn into a cranky sleep bitch who cries all the time for a couple weeks after using ADD drugs for a very long and constant time and then not using them at all. Severe depression is a huge risk.

2. ADD drugs sometimes make you super horny and it’s really weird because you’re hyper-focused on getting off and this can be fun but also distracting and not at all a great mindset to be in if you wanna get work done.

3. ADD drugs can interact with Sudafed and make you tachycardic. Please check online with the NIH before you take any other drug (OTC or not) to check for interactions.

4. If you’re on any form of hormonal birth control (AKA, not the copper mirena) then you’re also at a higher risk for high blood pressure and embolisms.

5. Not all ADD drugs are stimulants. But that doesn’t make them less dangerous to play around with.

6. Adderall and other ADD drugs may effect you brain chemistry and make you suicidal or give you massive mood swings (I speak from personal experience on this one). So watch out, please.

100% to #6.  I’ve been on the same thing for years and I tried to experiment with dose a couple weeks ago (after seeing a doctor).  Aaaaand, no.  So many negative feelings and a way fucked up sleep schedule I still haven’t fixed. I went back to my normal dose well before I saw the doctor again.
